Do I have to be 18 to join?
Yes. Nexus is an 18+ community. Most of us land somewhere between our late twenties and forties, with jobs, families, or both, and the jokes age accordingly.
What games does Nexus Gaming play?
Right now, Project Zomboid, Arma 3, DayZ, SCUM, and Vintage Story on servers we run ourselves, plus Star Citizen as an org (Hammernite Industries). The list shifts with whatever the group is into, which is kind of the founding tradition.
How do I join?
Join our Discord and say hi. There is no application and no tryout. If you are over 18 and good company in game, that is the entire process.
Is there a fee?
No. Nexus is a hobby community, not a business. Nobody is charging anybody to hang out and play games.
Do you self-host your servers?
Yes. Most of the games run on dedicated servers we maintain ourselves, with mod lists picked by the people who actually play on them. A few games, like Star Citizen, we just play together.
Is Nexus Gaming a milsim community?
Not strictly. We run milsim nights in Arma 3 (the ST11 side of the house), but we are just as much a survival and sandbox community. No milsim experience or mod-list memorization required.
What is Hammernite Industries?
It is our Star Citizen org: cargo runs, mining ops, trade routes, and the occasional rescue that turns into a firefight. Ask on Discord if you want to fly with us.
When did Nexus Gaming start?
In 2015, as two friends running Arma 3. The group grew from there across a decade of games and became Nexus Gaming in 2024. The full story lives on our Our Story page.
Are you affiliated with Nexus Mods, GamersNexus, or the Nexus Gaming esports org?
No. Different Nexus. We are a small 18+ gaming community that self-hosts servers, not a mod host, a hardware channel, or an esports team.
Do I need to be good at games to join?
No. Show up, be decent to people, and bring a sense of humor. The rest sorts itself out.
